Organic Honey
The Johnston Honey family is proud to offer you organically farmed honey. This honey is produced by Minnesota raised honey bees kept without the use of chemicals in the hive or exposure to pesticides within a 2 mile radius of the apiary (the usual range of a busy honey bee).
It was hard to find such an area in the highly farmed region around Rochester so Don approached Bill Bernacchi of B and B Honey Farm. Bill was able to find the perfect location several miles outside the sleepy little town of Houston, Minnesota.

Without the use of chemicals in the hives, mites and bacterial diseases will kill the bees by year's end. New colonies must be established on a regular basis. This high replacement rate coupled with the need to travel to such an isolated location increases the cost of organic honey.
